Kitesurfing photography
in Cape Town

Red Bull King of the Air, brand campaigns, and dedicated action shoots. Cape Town's winds and breaks, shot from the water and the beach — stills and video from one operator.

— Why me for kitesurfing

I read the wind,
not just the light.

I'm a photographer and videographer in Cape Town. CORE Kiteboarding, Red Bull King of the Air, Brunotti — I shoot the kite scene here from inside it. I know how Big Bay holds at 25 knots versus 35, which launches give the cleanest backgrounds, and the half-second a rider commits to a move. Solo operator, 10+ years in the sports industry. Water, beach, or full event coverage — shot around the wind, not around the camera.

— How a kite shoot works

Three ways to work together.

01
RIDER SESSIONS

Pro and sponsored riders, content days for your sponsors, personal-brand shoots. Wind-dependent timing, water and beach work, action-led editing. 50+ edited images and one 15-second reel, delivered within five working days. We book wind windows, not fixed dates.

02
EVENT COVERAGE

Full coverage of kite events and brand activations — competition rounds, athletes, sponsor moments. Same-day social cuts while it's live, complete edit within 7–14 days. Used to working alongside Red Bull King of the Air and brand activations on Cape Town's beaches.

03
BRAND & CAMPAIGN

Kite brands, boards, kites, and apparel shot in action with real riders — not models posing on the beach. Editorial stills and product-in-motion for campaigns, lookbooks, and paid social. Photo and video from one shoot.

— Frequently asked questions

Kitesurf photography in Cape Town.
What to know.

When is the best time of year for kitesurfing photography in Cape Town?

November to February — Cape Town's kitesurfing season, when the South-Easter (the "Cape Doctor") blows reliably between 25 and 40 knots for weeks at a time. Red Bull King of the Air typically runs in this window. Outside the season the wind drops and most kitesurfers leave Cape Town, so plan brand and athlete shoots for the November–February window for the strongest conditions and the busiest beach scene.

Where do you shoot kitesurfing in Cape Town?

Kite Beach (Bloubergstrand) is the main venue and where Red Bull King of the Air runs — Table Mountain as the backdrop, big wind, big jumps, busy with international athletes during season. Sunset Beach for waveriding in side-onshore wind. Big Bay for cleaner conditions on lighter days. Langebaan for flatwater and freestyle. The right location depends on the discipline and the conditions you want to feature.

Have you covered Red Bull King of the Air?

Yes — I've shot Red Bull King of the Air in both 2024 and 2025 for CORE Kiteboarding, covering team riders across multiple competition days at Kite Beach. The event is unpredictable (it only runs when conditions hit threshold), which means standby days and being ready to mobilise. Brand coverage at KOTA needs more than just action — rider portraits, BTS, gear detail, sponsor-village frames. Full case studies on /work.
