A personal portfolio shoot with athlete Anja at an athletics track in Stellenbosch. The shoot followed the arc of a real training session: arriving at the stadium, warming up, getting on the track, running hard, and recovering after. No artificial staging — the brief was to document that sequence and make it look like commissioned campaign work. BURNT Studios kit throughout, New Balance footwear. Photo set plus a 13-second social reel cut from the same session.

The stadium steps gave a strong opening sequence — pre-run portraits with the stands and ironwork behind, a different texture from the track itself. Jordan hoodie, kit bag, water bottle: the arrival moment before the session starts.
On the track, three approaches ran in parallel. Freeze-frame action for sharp running shots with the stadium stand behind. Panning for motion blur at lower shutter speed — the teal New Balance sole catching light against the red track. Low-angle detail work with the stadium out of focus in the background.
The late afternoon sun created hard directional light that suited the BURNT Studios kit — the post-effort frames with sweat and direct gaze were shot in that same light window. The Julbo sport sunglasses added a detail layer across portrait and action frames.
