AceLabs ran their Creator Masterclass 2024 at ORMS School of Photography in Cape Town — a full-day programme bringing together content creators, brand partners, and industry speakers across panels, breakout sessions, and sponsor activations. The brief was straightforward: cover the full day as a single operator, move between the main stage, breakout rooms, and networking floor without disrupting sessions, and deliver a complete set of edited images the same day. Sponsors on site included Huawei, DJI, and Humanz, each with their own branded spaces requiring coverage. I shot across all areas throughout the day and delivered 120 final edited images before the event closed.

The event ran across multiple rooms simultaneously — a main hall for keynotes and panels, smaller breakout rooms for workshops, and a separate sponsor activation floor. Moving between all three without missing key moments required planning the day in advance: knowing the session schedule, identifying which rooms would produce the strongest images at which times, and staying ahead of transitions rather than reacting to them. On the main stage I prioritised the panel format — six speakers on a curved stage against the AceLabs branded backdrop — and shot both the wide room and tighter individual moments. In breakout rooms the light was harder and the spaces tighter, so I worked with available light and kept a low profile to avoid pulling attention from the speakers.
