A personal portfolio project following Cape Town runner Vuvu across three running environments in one shoot: road running on Table Mountain, trail running on Lion's Head with the city and ocean below, and night running with flash on the same trails after dark. The goal was a set that covers the full range of running photography — product detail, action, portraiture, motion blur, and night work — across conditions that Cape Town does better than almost anywhere else. 80 images, no client brief.

Three environments, three different technical approaches. On the road on Table Mountain, the light was hard morning sun — useful for freeze-frame action and low-angle shoe detail. The Versus kit gave the images a clean, brand-ready look without being a commissioned brief.
On the trails of Lion's Head, the approach shifted to working with the landscape: long grass, mountain rock, the harbour and Atlantic visible in the background. Golden hour gave the trail section warmth and depth. Mix of panning shots for motion, freeze-frame for action, and portrait frames during natural rest moments.
After dark on Lion's Head, flash became the only tool. Hard light against a near-black background, Adidas Terrex trail shoes catching the colour. Running at night on a mountain trail with a strobe is technically demanding — timing, position, and ambient exposure all have to work together.
