Commissioned cycling and mountain biking photography for CUBE Bikes, covering road, enduro, and downhill disciplines across Germany and Austria, 2023.
CUBE Bikes is one of the largest cycling brands in Europe, and I spent several years working in their marketing team before moving to Cape Town. This shoot was a return to that world — commissioned photography across road and mountain biking disciplines, shot in Germany and Austria. Road cycling on alpine passes, enduro and downhill on forest trails, and bike park action. The kind of cycling content that needs someone who rides, not just someone who points a camera at a rider.

Ten years working in and around the cycling industry — including as art director at CUBE — means I approach cycling shoots from the inside. I know where a rider will look on a descent, which line they'll take through a berm, and how the bike sits differently under a climber versus a descender. For the road work I used a combination of panning at speed and static low-angle frames to get both the motion and the machine in the same edit. For the MTB sections I positioned early, worked with natural forest light, and moved between action and lifestyle frames to give the edit range. The result is a gallery that works for product campaigns, social content, and editorial placement.
